Our Little Princess

Jayna LOVES to play "dress up." This year, her Aunt Angela gave her a trunk full of her old dance costumes for Jayna to have and play with. Boy! WHAT A GIFT!

This happens to be my favorite outfit she had on. When she put another outfit on, I asked her if I could take her picture and she said, "No, Mommy, I've had enough." WHA.....

ENJOY!!

The Magical Number 5

Today, Jayna decided it was time to go "big potty." So, I told her, "Ok, go remove your pants and sit on the potty. Let me know when you're done." Not even 15 seconds later, she yelled she had "poo-poo'd." So, I went in to clean her up.

When she got up from the potty, she looked at it and proclaimed, "MOMMY, LOOK! I DID A NUMBER 5!!" I started laughing and said, "No, honey, you did a NUMBER 2!!"

Out of the mouths of babes...

It's POTTY TIME!

Man, when she's ready to do something, she's R E A D Y!

Today, I was on the phone with our landlord discussing some things that we'll be working on here at the house when I heard Jayna tell me she had to go potty. She ran off before I could tell her I'd help out.

When I walked in the living room (where we have her potty set up for easy access) she said, "Mommy, I firsty!" (translation: "Mommy, I'm finished!") I said, "What did you do?" She went to her potty and pointed, "Mommy, I pottied in the Big Girl potty!" As I walked over and saw that she indeed did go, we celebrated! WHAT A BIG GIRL! She went all by herself without me telling her what she needed to do!

Our reward for her learning to go "big potty" is that if she is successful in going to the potty, she can wear her tiara (it's all about being a Princess right now) for 10 minutes! This seems to be working for her! Hey...you do what you can with what you have....and you do what works! Money and candy mean NOTHING to her!! So...the Tiara it is!!

Another proud moment as a parent!!

Just wanted to share!!

A Genius at 3!!

This morning as we were getting ready to run our errands, I put the T.V. on Barney so that I could get ready and have Jayna be engrossed with Barney and not get into things. As I was putting on my shoes, I was whistling the song Barney and the kids were singing and heard this noise. As I looked into the direction of the "noise" it was JAYNA WHISTLING!!!

SHE'S 3 AND CAN WHISTLE!!! How many 3-year olds do you know that can whistle? I know of NONE!! I haven't taught her this, nor has Dave. It was a shocker to the both of us. We have asked her all day to whistle for us and she can still do it!

This picture is one taken where she had just done it and was SO proud of herself.

The shirt comes from Aunt Sweetie (Aunt Dawn) and she loves wearing it! None of her HPU shirts fit anymore, Mom & Dad!

Potty Training...To be, or not to be...THAT is the question!

Well, we're on...then we're off....it's like the Energizer Bunny. She keeps going and going and going and never makes that final decision to potty train!

So frustrating.

Jayna finally decided to do the inital POOP in the potty last night and it was a glorious time for all of us! We did the "Poo Poo" dance (a dance my sister made up with her son, Stellon when he potty trained) and it was so much fun! She loved it.

Then, she found my $20 bill on the counter and wanted it. I told her that if she decided to potty ALL the time in the "big girl potty" that I'd giver her one of those $20 bills and we'd go buy her whatever she wanted with it.

Money motivation?

NO.

Getting her ears pierced ... is that motivation?

NO.

Chocolate?

NO.

Wearing "big girl panties"?

HECK NO.

WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO MOTIVATE HER?

We have tried and tried until we're exhausted. She just won't do it.

We'll keep trying. We've tried EVERY one of your suggestions (to those that make suggestions) and we've done things by the book. It's frustrating...but we keep trying.

What's next?

Every 5 minutes...sitting on the potty...in front of the TV or wherever she's playing...

I'm about 2 minutes away from calling the Super Nanny!!

Rock her world!!

O U C H!!!!!

Tonight as I was working on my computer, Jayna was in the kitchen with me talking to her sister and helping strap her into her bouncy seat. When I asked her a question she got up and turned around rather quickly, she slammed her head on the corner of the kitchen cabinet!

OOOOUUUUCCCCCHHHH!!!!

There's a knot on her head and the only thing that would make her feel better, according to her, was so sit in her daddy's lap and watch Star Wars! HE'S CORRUPTED HER!!! My daughter loves Star Wars....a little earlier than I wanted her to start loving it...but she loves it none the less.

We hope tomorrow is a better day and that her head doesn't hurt too much! What a crummy way to end a great day for Jayna!!

More later...

Sick, sick, sick!!

Well, Jayna's been sick with a viral cough for 10 days now and she's finally starting to feel better.

How it all started? Well, it was the weekend we all went to Brownwood for Howard Payne University's Homecoming 2005 where we stayed with my sister and her family. Her son, Stellon (2 1/2 years old) started feeling bad while we were there and that seemed to start the illness. My sister's little girl, Aubrie, has had RSV and now Jillian has it. A disease equivilant to bronchiolitis but effects children under 6 months and preemie's very seriously. If a child as old as Jayna or Stellon were to get it now, it'd only be like what they have now...just a viral cough. But for Jillian or Aubrie or any preemie to get it, can be quite serious. We have to be very careful and consistant in our treatments.

Jayna feels much better today and is quite helpful in making sure her little sister is comfortable. She's adorable to watch as a "little Mommy" and keeps Jillian smiling.

We are just taking it one day at a time with the girls and hope they're feeling better much sooner than later.

We'll keep you posted!

With love,
MommyCurlee
