Daddy's girl through and through

Today I had to go to Wal-Mart to get medicine from the pharmacy for Jillian. While we were there listening to the Wal-Mart TV's there were many sounds and jingles for various products. Most of the time, Dave will mimic those sounds (elevators and other sounds included) without even knowing he's doing it.

Well, Jayna did it today. EVERY sound or jingle or whatever that went off in that store, Jayna mimicked. Guess I get to look forward to a lifetime of mimicking not only from Dave...but from Jayna.

Lord, if you hear me, spare Jillian from that annoyance!!!

Jayna Meets Dr. Rainey

We went to Howard Payne Homecoming 2005 this weekend. There weren't many fellas there but we did find one VERY important one Sunday morining. Justin & Suzanne are members at Coggin Ave Bapt Church and the church is currently without a pastor.

As he has done for so many churches over the years, Dr. Frankie Rainey stepped in as an interim pastor. God seems to have really blessed Dr Rainey with the gift of shepharding churches during times of transition. He's a special man.

Dr. Rainey also is VERY special the the Curlee and Mathews family. Dr Rainey served as interim pastor for Memaw Lorene and Pawpaw George's church in Lampasas. During that time they came to love him dearly and till their last days always spoke very highly and lovingly about him. He meant a lot to those two and to that congregation.

Over the years as a professor of Christianity at HPU, Kat and I got to know him as well.

Kat had him for New Testament, a class which suprisingly kicked her butt. She learned a lot from him.

I didn't have him for any classes...thankfully because he graded REALLY HARD.

Dr Rainey, however, was our Delta Pi sponsor. WOW, what memories. He was our dad, our grandpa, our best friend, and our leader. He was and still is, one of the original fellas.

One minute he'd be going over scripture with us, the next he'd be dwelling us. We'll be posting plenty of Dr Rainey pictures at dasfellas.com as that site comes to life.

For Kat and I, Dr Rainey means a little more than most. He was our pastor at Crestmont Baptist Church in Burleson when we lived in Arlinton the first time around, and more importantly, he was our pre-marriage counselor. We learned a lot durning our sessions with him. We love him dearly and to this day keep him near our hearts.

This morning at Coggin, I had the distict honor of introducing my daughters to him. Jillian just smiled her usual smile, but Jayna ran right to him and jumped in his arms for a HUGE hug. He squeezed her tightly and just loved on her. I almost started crying.

Full Circle. Wow! I've got pictures of Dr Rainey, pictures of me and the fellas with him, and now... a picture of my beloved daughter with one of my beloved, former leaders.

Dr. Rainey, thanks for the years, the memories, the love and the laughs.... all of them.

I and my family love you brother!

Let's Go To the Pumpkin Patch!

Today was a great day. Beautiful weather, nice and cool...a mere 77 degrees, and not a cloud in the sky. The perfect day to go to the Pumpkin Patch. We have a special place we go to. It's found at a Lutheran Church on Green Oaks just west of Cooper Street in Arlington. All the proceeds go to support mission trips for their youth group. Well worth the investment.

Jayna's job is to find the pumpkins. One for each member of the family. Today was a hard day for Jilli because she had shots yesterday, so she slept most of the day today. I dressed the girls alike...pink shirts, denim overalls, pink bows for their hair. Perfect for a day at the patch!

This year they had a cardboard standup of some Peanuts characters (Linus, Lucy and a shadow of Snoopy in the background all painted in black). Jayna loved them and so we had her picture made with them. Not only that, but they had a huge haystack where you could have your pictures made with pumpkins displayed all around. We had our picture made (Mommy, Jilli and Jayna) and Daddy and Jayna had their picture made with a scarecrow. Too cute.

Jayna met a cat on a leash, and didn't like him at all. He was a kitten (a teenager cat) that was a little more active than Jayna's used to. Jayna's only met 2 cats in her lifetime...my sister's cat, Lilly (who's afraid of kids and stays away) and Dave's sister's cat, Frances who LOVES Jayna and plays with her. Needless to say, we didn't visit with the cat.

Afterwards, we ate at none other than Chick-Fil-A (Chick-A-Lay according to Jayna) and went shopping at Wal-Mart for groceries where Dave saw a lifesize standup Lego display of Darth Vadar.

Now we're home, ready for bed...ready for a day at church tomorrow. We'll see what goes on tomorrow....

Until then, love to all...

Home Depot according to Jayna...

Hello all...
I wish you all could have been with us tonight! We decided to have our usual Taco Cabana Friday night dinner tonight and when we left, Jayna saw the Home Depot, which shares the parking lot with Taco Cabana. Jayna said, "I wanna go to Home Depot." (Can you tell we go there a lot??) We told her that we were going to go to Target first and then would go home but that we weren't going to Home Depot tonight. She said, "I wanna go to Home Depot! You can do it, we can help!" (that's their motto!) Dave and I started laughing so hard! We've NEVER said that motto...and it goes to show us that she's watching the TV more than she's letting on!!

What a silly girl!

Dave said, "Jayna you're so smart........You're scary smart!"
I love this 3 year old thing!!! She's too funny!!

Love to all,
